Category E

For this project, the full ShowStages team came together to provide a full design and implementation. Set, video, lighting, costume, and integration were all completed by ShowStages collective. With its unique forced perspective stage, emphasized by rear projection and pixel mapped LED strip, Category E made a major impact, and was the last show to be mounted in the Varscona Theatre before its renovation this spring.

Category E was decorated with numerous Elizabeth Sterling awards in 2015, including Outstanding Independent Production, Outstanding New Play, Outstanding Lighting Design (T. Erin Gruber), and Outstanding Multi-Media Design (ShowStages collective).

Two individuals in a white cell with two beds, two chairs. One is a half-blind paraplegic. The other might be a clinical psychopath. A third individual arrives. Within 36 hours, it will come to pass that there will be only two again. In the meantime, they will play Monopoly, try to figure out who’s next door, and do their best not to kill each other.
